For quite some time, Mike and Peggy felt the call from God to go into mission work, and it became stronger after two short-term mission trips to the hospital. Mike worked in hospital maintenance for many years in a stateside hospital; the rest of his career was in construction—the very skills that are needed at Hospital Loma de Luz. Peggy comes with nurses aid skills as well as being a teaching assistant. Mike's talents are used to meet all sorts of construction and maintenance needs at the hospital and housing projects; and Peggy is assisting with nursing, at the Pharmacy, the wound care clinic, and Radiology.
