Hospital Loma de Luz / Cornerstone Foundation/ APAH are unapologetically and overtly Christian Ministries. “For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God to salvation to every one that believes.” Romans 1:16. We believe that the Gospel of Jesus Christ uniquely offers a hope and a future to all people, ( Jer. 29:11, John 3:16) . At Loma de Luz our day-to-day mission in accordance with Christ’s Gospel is Christian service: to heal the sick and injured, to care for the poor & dispossessed, the powerless, the widows, and orphans. But at Loma de Luz our day-to-day mission is also, by words and by the living of our lives, to proclaim the Good News of God’s redemption and grace and to teach this Way to all who would listen. (Matthew 28; 16-20) We believe that to treat only medical problems or to offer housing to orphans or food to the poor, but to withhold from them the hope of a better way with eternity to follow, would be like treating an agonizing and fatal infection with narcotics but without the antibiotics or surgery that might bring them to full health.
Therefore, evangelism and discipleship are the first and best that we have to offer, just as in medicine or childcare, agriculture or education, it is presented to all and built into all that we do in proactive, intentional, and carefully considered ways. We acknowledge that salvation ultimately is the realm of the work of the Holy Spirit, (John 6:44, John 15:16, Eph. 2), but we also know that our part in this work is vital (1 Cor. 10:31, 2 Cor. 5:20 & 6:1, Eph 4:12), and not optional (Romans 10:14). Wherever lies the balance between faith and good works, we can say this without equivocation – God’s presence in this place and in this work and among these people is incontestable. Each day, souls are saved. Churches are planted. The wreckage of sin is being redeemed and healed. As it is proclaimed on the front gate: “ Dios Obra Aqui”, God is at work here.
