Nelson and Margo’s passion for missions began early on with an emphasis on local missions and ministry within their local church in Indianapolis, Indiana. Nelson has been involved for many years with children’s ministry and also in church leadership. Margo has worked as a counselor, first with the Crisis Pregnancy Center, and then in the biblical counseling and training ministry of their home church. Both sensed the Lord clearly leading them to Honduras early in 2003, and that call was confirmed to the whole family during their first visit to the hospital later that year. They have spent the last three years in preparation and language study, and arrived in Balfate in August of 2006.

Nelson is a Medical Technologist, and is working to advance and expand the laboratory at the hospital. He has also been excited about the opportunity he has had to become involved in the training of local pastors. Margo is active in home schooling their 2 daughters, Shelby and Cori., and helping out with the home school cooperative for all the missionary kids. She also looks forward to using her gifts to get involved with the ministry at the hospital and in the community in the future. Shelby is already putting her musical talent to work in the Friday night outreaches, and has also done some puppet ministry outreach in the local schools. Their daughter, Kristyn, is currently back in the States participating in a leadership training and discipleship program before heading off to college.
